    Default Favorite character in Thinner?

I'm going to go ahead and say mine was Ginelli. I don't know why, but he was just so interesting and.. I couldn't help but anticipate when he'd show up in the story next.

    Any thoughts?
I frankly found Heidi and Linda annoying.. especially Heidi. But that's kind of understandable. I think you were supposed to.

yeah, ginelli works for me...have you read roadwork?...there's a character there that seems to come from the same vein. ginelli went all out, didn't he? he took it personal.

I found the entire gypsy clan to be my favorite part. Just imagining living that way, going from town to town trying to make a buck is fascinating to me. I wanted to be a carny when I was a kid. I also wanted to be a garbage man though to so go figure.

Ironically, the reader/viewer sympathy leans heavily toward the Gypsies, although they are effectivly vindictive and vicious in the movie (obviously, that's a broad generalization). The moral of the story is one thing: that you should die for accidentally killing another; while the storyline is a lot better with that sort of twisted rationale. Having said that, I really dig the Gypies in this book/movie.

My favorite character was also Ginelli. I think it was because you didn't know what he would do next. For example, shooting up the whole Gypsy camp. lol yeah... I couldn't stand Heidi. I was actually hoping he would just kill her and get it over with, but I knew he had to wait to get the curse lifted off of him. She was majorly annoying. Linda was alright. Actually, I didn't think she was that bad at all.
I, for one, have to say, the book was a lot better than the movie, but that's to be expected with all books. Hollywood people can never get it right. It even ended a bit differently than the book. I could rant about movie/book differences all day, but I control myself. lol (:

For me it was Lon Enders.

i have to agree with most everyone and say ginelli. just because of the way he does things. like when he shoots up the gypsie camp. and poising the dogs and not jst harrass them until they get annoyed like in most other books

Ginelli, because he was a true friend. He was also the most vibrant character because he lived, the rest of them, except for Lon Enders, just existed. He made peace with what he is and made no apologies. He wasn't a gangster with a heart of gold but he was a loyal friend to the end.

Yes, I also have to say Ginelli because he really was a true friend to Billy. He helped Billy when everyone else found him disgusting & no one else wanted to be around him(Billy). He arranged for medical help for Billy & didn't kill the gypsies only because Billy asked him not to do so. Billy's wife wouldn't even believe him & wanted to put him away in some loony bin, I didn't like her when she turned on him. She couldn't at least humor him & go along w/him a little? I was sad when Ginelli didn't make it, I was hoping he would. Also Ginelli didn't think twice when Billy asked him for help, even though Billy had stopped visiting him in the beginning because it didn't really look too well that he should be friends w/someone like Ginelli. & Look! Heidi didn't like Ginelli in the beginning either & Ginelli stuck his neck out for Billy in many ways & Heidi wouldn't even support her husband. Ungrateful woman! Yes, so maybe he was a mobster or whatever, but he knew what was true friendship.
