Question Why Not Anne Wilke's Husband?

Anne seems to deem that everyone who is a "brat" or a "dirty birdy" is unworthy to live. But why does she let her husband live? She kills a lot of people, children in hospitals, that one guy she lived with for a while, college roommates, but why not her husband who leaves her? I'm just wondering what made him impervious to her wrath.

Maybe she loved him really deep down inside. Serial killers have loved ones or even just acquaintances (though I am sure are very few) that they don't kill.

Wow, that's a good question. As to an explanation, I have to agree with Aahlyia72. Perhaps Annie really did genuinely love her husband..

While you are correct Aahlyia, I would think that after er husband left her, that he would be off her sacred" Do Not Kill" list. But then again, maybe she couldn't kill him because it would be way too obvious.

Seems like the best answer to me. Maybe he bolted before she could get him. Also, he had legs.

I don't remember how much we actually learned about him in the story -- I'll have to go back and check -- but if the simplest explanation is usually the correct explanation, my guess was that he recognized her insanity before she did and got out while the gettin' was good.
