Default Do you ever find interesting things in used books?

Every once in awhile I find some interesting odds and ends in used books that I buy. The best so far has been this black and white photo that was in a paperback copy of The Talisman. I have been using it as a bookmark as I read (almost finished) and after I read a spell, I often sit and study the people in the picture. The little blond boy could be Jack Sawyer, the rest of the people are just a mystery. Maybe some of them have gone to the clearing at the end of the path, others could be out there just living their lives with no idea that a complete stranger is studying them while he reads a great book.

I scanned the photo at a pretty high dpi, but it shows up as a small photo in the preview. If anyone has any tips on how to do this better, for instance to have a photo that can be clicked on to show more detail, please feel free to enlighten me.

I would be interesting to hear anyone else's stories about interesting things you might have found in used books, SK books or otherwise.

    Good Health to you all!

Tons and tons of business cards. A grocery list, a picture of someone's cat, and a one dollar bill. How 'bout those cheeto smudges? I get those all the time. Anybody else as grossed out?

A couple years ago, I bought a hardcover collection of Mark Twain stories off Ebay. From the look of it, it seemed real old, with this sort of cream-colored cover that was etched with various scenes from his work. It was only three dollars, though, so I bought it.

When it came in, I found on the inside cover, written in blue pen:

To Louise, from your mother and father,

    Christmas, 1945

I thought that was pretty interesting.

Most interesting thing I've found is a receipt.

Yeah, I had one with a bloodstain once, plus many with boarding passes (which is kind of interesting in it's own way).

Happened years ago- an airline ticket. Still valid. I turned it back to store shop keeper. Guess he contacted the owner.
