    Question Haven

Just read on IGN about a new series called 'Haven' which isgoing to be loosely based on 'The Colorado Kid', though i can't tell if this is a recent thing because I haven't hearrd anything before about it or was it something that they wanted to do a year or soi back and got shelved? Anyone know?

    Hi,

Yeah, it's just about to start production on a 13 part series, I believe.

But it appears to be VERY loosely based on The Colorado Kid, unfortunately.

Here's a new article about the series and you are correct that it is loosely based on the book's original plot.

And here's another with more information about the production. It sounds to me like they're doing this in a similar fashion as The Dead Zones TV series, i.e. taking the basic premise and spinning off from there in order to be able to make it a weekly series. No small surprise that this series includes writers and producers from The Dead Zone series.

Oh yeah, dats a big shock der-you betcha, by golly, wow...guess we wait till it shows up on the idiot box and then see how "loose" it is. That team didn't do badly with "Dead Zone", so there is hope(Not Bob or Delores)

I've been seeing promos for it lately. Looks interesting. It's on Syfy. Not sure if it started yet or not. Figured I'd come here to find out about it, but I guess I need to go to syfy's site.

I have seen 4 episodes now and it is not so good IMO. I find the acting to be very forced, the special effects really bad and the storyline really disjointed. I guess it can't be that bad if I keep watching

I've rather liked it so far, actually, wasn't really sure I would at the outset .. it's been no great thing, to be sure, but more than adequate I feel.

The acting isn't bad, not at all (certainly there is much worse out there), and I rather like that the characters have been somewhat reigned in. Which is no small thing for a Syfy show, Warehouse 13 comes to mind w/ seeming adults acted/written as complete children. They must feel that sells to their audience .. well, not this member of the aud, let me tell you.

I also felt the F/X were pretty well done, but here let me just say that for such a production on such a media outlet, this can be very hit or miss. I'd say it's somewhere in the middle.

I do agree somewhat on the storyline, relative to where you were when you posted (just 4 shows in), it was a bit unclear just what was going on.

All in all, a pretty darn good show, and I too shall continue watching... unless it becomes very stupid, that is

I like Haven, it's a fun show. I'm glad that it's up for a second season. I particularly like it when the writers nod to other SK stories, like Carrie and Christine. As a matter of fact I think it would be cool if there were a few more Castle Rock tie ins next season.
I like the cast and the whole eerie campy sort of feel of the show. It's just a bit of fun.
