I did read the FAQ's, but I am still at a loss as to how one makes a custom Avatar. Help! I've seen so many very cool ones, but I can't figure out the system. Thankee-sai big big to whoever lets me in on the secret

As noted in the FAQ custom avatars are not allowed. You would need to choose one from the selections available.

I sometimes get confused because I will see "my" avatar but I realize it's a posting by Smerdyakov, who has the same avatar as me. I've thought about changing mine but I identify too much with it at this point.

It's too bad we weren't able to keep the Living Avatars option but this newest version of the vBulletin software doesn't support it.

Curious why you disallow them? This is the first forum I've ever seen where they were disabled.

This is also answered somewhere here in another thread about custom avatars, but basically we don't want to have to take our time to police any avatars that might be using copyrighted material without permission.
