Default New here and have a few question about this novel (Spoiler)

Hi I'm new here and I have a few question about this novel - just finish reading it.

    1. The deadlight (IT true form) is mention and appear again in Insomnia, does that mean that IT is still alive? If so I find this odd and contradicting, becasue at the end of the novel (It), the Losers was sure that IT is dead - even the Turtle and the Other confirm this.

    2. Since looking into the deadlight is an instant kill (or insanity) why didn't IT just transform into ITs true form - the deadlight - and finish off the Losers right off the bat? Why waste time with the giant spider form? I'm asking because near the end of the novel Beverly's husband and Audra encounter and look at IT true from and go insane right away (Tom get killed instantly).

    3. Does IT and the Crimson King related in anyway? Do they know of each other existent? Is IT even more powerful than the Crimson King? I even heard that IT is actually the Crimson Queen and the mother of the Crimson King is this true?

    Thank you for your time

I believe that I can answer a part of your question.

It went in to different forms -- example the spider -- because it actually fed off the victim's fear.

Later it used the deadlight because it felt it's life was in danger.

The Deadlights, i.e. the true form, are locked far out in the nothingness. It takes a pretty good bit of travel at amazing speed to even get there if that gives you any kind of perspective on it. The further out you go and the closer to the Deadlights the less intelligible It becomes to a human mind. In other words, It cannot take its true form on Earth because Its true form can't exist there. It must take these other forms that obey (at least to some extent) the laws of the physical world (and to a larger extent) and the laws of the beliefs of those who envision them. In other words, It is limited by the forms It takes, but without those forms It can do nothing. Not being an innately physical being, It pulls most forms from the mind of the victim. This is a very efficient way to maximize terror (without much work). Lazy is a good description. It, like most predators, prefer the most return for the least work. These fearful creations from victim's mind seem to require the least work to accomplish.

By contrast, It can choose to call on lots of things in its bag, forms from the past, and even the odd original thing. These, however, clearly are difficult to hold and maintain. The Pennywise shape is an old favorite and clearly one it has used so often and long that it is easier to upkeep. Thus, when not making like quicksilver, the default form is Pennywise.

Ward you pose some interesting questions and I agree with the above replies-but here goes my two Pennies(wise)worth. As you experience SK's "world-view", you'll find that many universes exist side by side and what happened in one version of "reality" may never have occured or occured yet in another i.e. the death of Pennywise. The deadlights question has been well addressed, and finally-all things(evil)serve the Crimson King.
