A few years back, I made a query here to which I never received an answer...I do know you have tons of questions to look through and other things to do, but anyway, here they are again:
1) I'm a little confused about whether or not King actually once wrote a script for Poltergeist. According to various sources, for example also Justin Brooks in his Bibliography, King wrote a script which Spielberg found too scary, but on the other hand, I read an interview with King (collected in Bare Bones) in which King states he came close to writing the screenplay. So can you check with Steve (King, that isif he was going to write a script but never did or if he indeed did write one?
2) The same with They Bite which according to the authors of Stephen King: Uncollected, Unpublished is an unproduced screenplay by King, existing at the Fogler library. I read in an interview with Dan O'Bannon (the author of Alien) that his first script was titled They Bite and his description match the plot for the script supposedly written by King. And O'Bannon didn't mention King in that interview. So is it possible that King was once given the script by O'Bannon to read and comment on or perhaps rewrite? It does seem like it isn't an original project begun by King.
And third and final...I know the word is that King didn't write anything for Discordia, the DT interactive thing (other than contributing with ideas and suggestions), but I was wondering if Furth also wrote the intro that King narrates (in Discordia) or if King maybe wrote that himself (or tinkered with)?
These questions are just out of personal curiousity and for the sole purpose of what to include in my own personal bibliography. I would be very happy if these can be confirmed and either ruled in or out![]()
