If I could have a book wish, I wish I could have a set of around the turn of the century (last century Doh!) Alexandre Dumas's work, to replace a mint set that was handed down to me that belonged to my daddy that I lost in a fire years ago.
They were covered with snazzy hand tooled soft leather, with gold leafed lettering and gold gilded edging, and with nice tissue thin parchment put between the pages and the beautiful thick lithographs that marked the beginning of the chapters, and also had what I guess was red silk ribbon bookmarks.
Oh my word they felt sooo good in your hands it was almost sensual...they were my absolute pride & j y, and thirty years later I can almost still smell 'em.
Though I'd be happy and thrilled to death with just a copy of The Count of Monte Cristo...it's one of my top five favorite all time reads.
I just love old books, and those probably had just a little something to do with it.

"Tom Corbett-Space Cadet"-wore the cover off of it as a kid, and then it fell by the wayside in some move or another..
Well, that and a signed First Edition of anything King...
