Exclamation A blessing or a curse? ***SPOILER WARNING***

I touched on this in my reply to another thread about Insomnia. This probably won't make sense to non Dark Tower readers-sorry if that's the case

In this novel Ralph (and others) engage with a beautiful and terrifying other level of existence and ultimately play a pivitol role in saving the universe by protecting the artistic child who will become so essential to Roland's quest for The Dark Tower.

Is this a blessing or a curse for Ralph and Lois?

maybe it depends on who you ask...if you asked lois, i suspect she'd say it was a curse, dontcha think?...at least initially, but i imagine that lois, being lois, would get/got over it and i suspect that both of them would tell us that it was a blessing to have experienced that other level, as that was my take on their take of what was happening in insomnia...and although i'm having trouble recalling any knowledge they had about patrick's destiny, seems like one, or both of them, had some kind of awareness that someday he will/does make a difference...all in all, i don't see how any of it could be taken as a curse.

    AWBlueySaid. Exactly.

I'll add a thought as well that Ralph became engaged in life again to a degree which didn't exist after his wife died. I'd like to think this was a blessing.

I would tend to agree-better to experience life fully wherever possible and Ralph certainly did this beautifully in Insomnia-Lois too. Curse maybe too harsh a word-was thinking about how new knowledge and experiences can sometimes be frightening I guess. Safe and moderate vs powerful and intense kinda thing...

Bluey I don't think Ralph or Lois knew on any conscious level about Patrick's significance-they did something incredible without knowing just how important their actions would ultimately be.

But Beamster, isn't doing something just coz your heart tells you it's right and good-the essence of nobility?
