I haven't read this story and have if about reading it. I just recently saw the movie, and though a movie and book differ immensley, I just feel as if the flow would be a bit dry. I'll ususally read a book, but I chose the other way around this one. I have heard the book is very good, so maybe one day I'll read it. This thread is good and we'll see what conclusion I come to in the end.

I think what made this story is the views from Arnie, Dennis and Leigh. My favourite was Dennis. He told the story so well. Part one is my favourite, but I loved this book.

I love this novel I have revisited the book on numerous occasions as I enjoy the tale. It is in my all time top twenty King novels. I guess it depends if you can take a haunted car seriously or not I suppose. It never bothered me because King writes the novel in such a way that it works. The characters do outshine the story. But it has always been a hell of a read for me. Maybe I have a soft spot as it was through the movie and novel Christine that I became the huge King fan I am today. There are quite a lot of elements that I find enjoyable about this novel: Arnie's transformation ,the love triangle, Buddy Repperton, Christine's wrath, the breakdown of the Cunningham family, Darnell and a lot more. It also helps that the novel move at a breakneck pace and doesn't slow down and the finale is a killer as well. Plus it has a fantastic soundtrack and the changing of the points of view was freaking ingenious.

One of my all time favourite King novels. I would easily rate it higher than other King classics of the eighties like Cujo and The Tommyknockers

Haven't read this one since my teenage years, but I recall loving it then. I think this book best speaks to the dark heart of teenage males, what with all the cars, girls, and rock and roll. I think a re-read is in order.

It's one of my favorites. To me, Christine is not just about a demonic car, it's about obsession and what happens when an obsession gets out of hand. I'm a tad hungover today so that's all I have.

Oh you hit the nail on the head!!! This story is awesome. His BITCH mother who didn't let arnie keep Christine at his house, plus the way he calls her out and the way he stands up to them! The way Buddy Repperton and the gang get "what they deserve" is total justice!!!! Oh, and Darnell rulz too!!! Plus Kudos to Christine, she didn't take no ****!! You don't find too many books with such BALLS, BAD ASS!!!!

This was one of the 1st SK books I read. I remember that I almost didn't read it because I assumed it as just about a demonic car. Wow was I wrong! This story had pretty much everything! The characters were great and the way it builds up is the true thrill of the read. The book is in my top 10, but I'd say the characters were in the top 5.

It's the way King writes this story that makes it so compelling. The underlining theme IMO, is that obsession can hold you prisoner, can manipulate you and ultimately control you.

I enjoyed this book I think because it was so easy to read, it just eemed to have a natural flow to it. I was also rooting for Dennis!

I actually liked Buick 8 better than Christine, don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed Christine. Truth is, I just felt that From a Buick 8 was more well written, the characters were great, it was mysterious and had almost a hallucinogenic effect to it, and it ties into The Dark Tower.
