I read this story when Nightmares & Dreamscapes first came out. I had no idea there had been a movie made of it until I saw this forum. It is pretty kool finding it now though, because I looked it up on Netflix and it is one of the movies you can watch instantly on your computer or television (if you have one of the devices needed to do so). So if anyone has Netflix, that wants to see this movie - you won't have to go get a DVD or wait for one to come in the mail! Just thought I would share. I am going to watch it tonight.

Yes, it's in Nightmares and Dresamscapes.

IMO it's a good movie, but a GREAT short story!

Thanks for the help there, now I know where to find it... I don't have to walk to far as it's on my shelf, but it is now on my 'To read' list behind 'The Dead Zone' (current), 'Salem's Lot' and 'Pet Sematary'

    thanks again

I'm probably far too late, but don't watch this conversion of a brilliant short story into a idiotic, insipid film.

I have... unfortunately. My advice is not to watch it.

Whoa! I didn't even know this movie existed until recently! I bought the dvd sight unseen(only for 4 bucks so if it's as bad as some folks are saying eh, at least it's only 4 bucks ) I'm rather looking forward to checking it out, going to have to reread the short first though for comparisons sake

It isn't a good movie. Wes Bentley -- who, so far as I know, was only ever good in American Beauty -- is terrible, and Christian Slater is even worse. But parts of the story still work relatively well. Worth seeing if you're a hardcore fan, but otherwise, skip it.

I thought the opposite, the greater the fan you are... the more likely it is you should skip it. I thought it was terrible on every level. They appeared to miss the entire point of the story and rewrote things which not only didn't require a rewrite, made less sense and put big plot holes in the film.
