Continuity question

In The Pusher/Chapter IV: The Drawing it says the A-Train had cut off Odetta's legs some three years before, but didn't that happen in 1959 instead of 1974 (Considering The Pusher takes place in 1977)?

I think it was the brick to the head that happened in 1959. Odetta was like 5 years old at the time. Then when she was 20 or so (in 1974) is when she lost her legs. I think that answers your question. But I've taken a few blows to the head myself and I am not sure. Good question.
