Thumbs up What is your favorite part of all the Children of the Corn series?

I can't remember what part of the sequel Eli appears..the child preacher who grew corn fields in the house of their foster parents right in the city! He was really something! I like the way he quoted "Modest dress is the surest way to a pious life" That part of the sequel really is my personal favorite..

The original "Children of the Corn" film is, and I suppose always will be, my favorite. This film series, like too many others, simply got out-of-hand. Even Stephen King has poked fun at the fact that there are so many spin-offs of his story. Yet, the first film (though the special effects are very dated now) is a great film. Perhaps the film was so good that filmmakers couldn't help but note its potential as a cash cow and that's why so many sequels were made. Even though it's hard to pick a favorite scene from the original film I suppose it would have to be when Linda Hamilton is crucified in the cornfield and she sees the skeleton of another victim on a cross and screams. I think the dead policeman is still quite scary. What also helps the scene in its scariness is all of the children chanting "Kill! Kill!" over and over. That vision of Linda Hamilton (Vicky) on a cross in the cornfield has become quite well-known and, I believe, with a little more prodding could become an iconic film image. That is my favorite moment from "The Children of the Corn" series.

I have to say any of the C ot C movies were huge disappointments to me. Just more waste of film screwing up an otherwise fantastic story by SK.

I remember reading the original short story (published in Playboy or Penthouse---can't remember which). I was working the midnight shift at an isolated facility where I had to make rounds every two hours or so-----talk about settings where you SHOULDN'T be reading something by SK!!!! Great story----too bad it couldn't be captured effectively on film.
