Default Should I read this over Black House

I am coming to the end of 'Under The Dome' and am wondering if I should either read this or the 'Black House' or whatever its called, my old man has it and he loves it. What do you guys think? Zombies (thats what is about right?) or a child killer? (I believe thats Black House no?)

O.K. Kayle. First, hold off on "Cell" for now. You need to grab a copy of "The Talisman" before "Black House"-They are companion volumes. Read them back to back and then cleanse your mental palate with "Cell".

Cell would be my choice. Fits into the technology theme. If you have not read Tailsman, please read that before Black House. It will give you a better background to Black House.

Black House. Definitely. But from previous threads asking similar questions I'm guessing that you'll have endless contradicting opinions. If I were you I'd see what appeals to me more, which book "feels" right and when I'm done reading, go on to the other one.

Hmmm so Talisman seems the way to go aye....ok I'll try and find it. Is it essential to read that first or just a good idea. I know you said it would give a better background GNTLGNT
But do I need to actually go and find it haha

    Hi,

By no means 'essential' - Black House can stand on its own IMO.

    But certainly desirable!

    Long days and pleasant nights

AWJDS- and what JohnD said. Black House does stand alone, but you will have a better feel for the characters it you read Talisman first. It's like starting in adulthood and missing the years of youth and experiences that made that character who he is.

I agree with John, its not essential but it will very much enhance your enjoyment to read Talisman first. And besides, the Talisman is a bona fide masterpiece whereas Black House is just another great SK novel.

You need to read the talisman first that is the first part of black house that was written with peter straub. Then you will enjoy black house that much better.
