A Little Bit of Yoknapatawpha in Derry?

Hi! I'm reading It again, for the first time in more than 20 years, and I've jsut gotten up to the Black Spot sequence. Nice to see Dick Halloran again! A couple of other character names caught my attention, too: Snopes and Sartoris. There's no way that's a coincidence, right?

Are there significances to the other soldiers' names? Whitsun, McCaslin, Dawson ... I couldn't find any other Faulkner links.

And oh DUH -- McCaslin is from Faulkner too, I can't believe I missed that.
