    Default Ending/consequences... *SPOILER*

So, Iīm currently reading book VII of the Dark Tower series for the second time, and I canīt get certain questions out of my mind.
As Roland enters the room at the top of the tower and is being forced to begin his quest from scratch again, what consequences does that have for the rest of the world(s), keystone or otherwise? The Tet Corporation, for instance; will that even exist? Has it been as successful in disturbing Sombra and NCP as they were under the watchful eyes of Joe, Aaron and Moses?
Also the beams; are they once again (or still) under attack from the breakers, or did Rolands tet stop that once and for all?

Glad to hear your take on this.

I always felt that once Roland began his quest again, much older and hopefully wiser this round-that a cosmic "re-set" button was pushed and we hadn't passed "GO" or collected the $200 yet. In other words, all bets are off and the Wheel of Ka spins anew.

Well, those are really the key questions, aren't they? I think we don't know - which means it is up to the reader to decide. My view is that the world is similar but not exactly the same. After the ending my view was "Well, I guess SK could write another DT series based on the changes."

    Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

For some reason I keep mentioning that book over and over and sideways and upside down....

I've often wondered the same thing, and that is my one criticism of the ending. Like those that died in the keystone worlds, they aren't supposed to get second chances. Dead is dead there. Does that not apply anymore? Are the villains alive again, and do they know that time has reset? Furthermore, if time keeps repeating, and we can assume it's been doing this for a while, was the Tower really ever in jeopardy?

I still loved the ending however, despite these questions. And sometimes, pondering such things can add enjoyment to the entire experience. If we keep discussing this, the series never really has to end, does it?

I agree with the 'universal reset button' idea, and that everything is starts over. The beams are under attack still, Roland hasn't caught Walter, and so on so forth.

I don't agree. There is no universal reset. There are countless worlds and universes. There are many ills to be righted. It will not all play out the same again or likely even involve the same people. The keystone world will continue forward as it always has. If Roland lets the boy fall (assuming it is the boy at the station this time) a different draw might come from the man in black.

Obviously each time roland enters the DT (Dark Tower) something different happens, like he picked up the horn of eld. I think that eventually he wont enter the DT and will give in up, because he would rather save his ka-tet if he could then enter the DT. (which i think he says (or thought) he would give anything to have jake back and ectetera)

Besides this series was never about the DT, but roland and his ka-tet's quest. maybe king will make an actual DT book, but i doubt.

anyway i loved the ending. it really was the right ending, do you not kenit?

Long days and pleasant nights, and may you have twice the number.
