Default Is this a first edition?

    Hi everyone,
Got a question about a book I just bought. First off I guess I should tell you what book it is. Secret Window hard cover. Now what do you need to look for on this book to denote a first edition. It doesn't have a number line and there is no price on the DJ. Now I have heard that the boards are white on the first edition and black on the reprint. The reason I ask is because the person I bought it from said it was a first edition and I would like to know if he lied. Well I am going to start reading it and hopefully someone can answer my question by the time I am done.

    Thanks for your time

Our Guide only says that BOMC doesn't specify edition information. The copy I have (which I'm pretty sure is a first edition) has white boards. I don't know if subsequent printings had black boards, though. Anyone else?

Secret Window started out as a short story in Four Past Midnight.

Yeah, BOMC has never done anything to distinguish printings, to the best of my knowledge. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that some books have white boards and some black on a random basis. Technically it IS a first edition because there has only been one edition of the book, so the guy didn't lie. Which printing it is, though, is something no one is ever likely to be able to ascertain.

    Hi,

And personally I suspect that there never will be either, so grab your copies now folks!

Described as a 'companion to On Writing it's a must IMO

And usually available from Amazon etc.

Great!! Thanks everyone I think that answers my question. But I think we can all agree that what is written in the book is always more valuable then which edition it is. It's just a perk if you can get and read a first.

    Thanks again and happy reading!!!

I'm also wondering if I have a first edition, but of Despration. I've read the first edition guide on the Stephen King website, but I'm confused as to whether that's just for the US versions, as I live in the UK? My copy of Despration has the number sequence it said on there, but the publisher is different?
