I wonder how much thought she put into his gift, I mean the man is turning 40(a milestone to most people) and all she gets him are some blank C.D.'s.

Yes, I thought the same thing when it was revealed. Maybe if she had bought him a DVD recorder AND a spindle of DVDs....then I could see it. But this was a pretty cheap gift on her part. Doesn't a spindle cost about 10 dollars?

Maybe he wanted blank CD's.....I would be thrilled to receive such a gift for OOHHHHH SSSOOOOOOOO many music projects.

I also thought it was odd, especially since this book takes place in the (near) future, and blank CDs are already currently becoming obsolete in today's world.
