Default The Long Walk....Will it ever happen????

Let me start by saying I have read this story not once twice or even three times...but have read it so much that I have gone through 2 copies of the Bachman books. Yes, I have truly read them so much that they have literally fallen apart.
I have been looking for news of a movie since that article in rotten tomatoes in 2007!

    Will it EVER happen?
This would be the pinnacle, the absolute HEIGHT of wonderful for me (and for more than just a few fans as well).

    Hi,

I believe that Frank Darabont (Yay) has the option for it, but I don't think it's gone any further (yet).

    Long days and pleasant nights

I'm a big fan of this book as well, I think it's probably one of King's most underappreciated works. I think this could make a great movie but it would have to be handled perfectly. There probably aren't too many studios eager to put out a movie where 99 out of 100 young guys die, and I'd hate to see this done as as an exploitation flick where you just have people watching because they want to see the violence. It's going to be really hard to get the characters and motivations across in a 100-minute movie by just any director, they need someone who can do a very human story at the same time doing a horrific and tension-filled story. I heard at one point Richard Kelly (the director of "Donnie Darko") was interested in this movie but I haven't heard anything in a while.

Yes, that's correct that Frank Darabont has the option for The Long Walk and is the only one who has held those rights. I haven't heard any recent updates as to when he'll begin production.

It seems to me that of all SK's works this would be one of the easiest ones to adapt for film.
