Default Reggie Nalder or Rutger Hauer

Who do you like better as Kurt Barlow from 'Salem's Lot, Rutger Hauer or Reggie Nalder?

    Here is Reggie Nalder:

    Here is Rutger Hauer:

I like Reggie Nalder(Rutger looks to normal and Lestat-ish), but my opinion doesn't matter, who is your favorite?

    Hi,

Yeah, me too. Nalder reminds me of Nosferatu.

Got to agree with you. But, I don't think I've seen the re-make. If I did, it didn't leave much of an impression on me.

Both are good in their own way. I guess it depends on how you want your vamp today. Mr. Nalder is the very down and basic blood sucker. You know where your future lies the minute you see this guy. Whereas, Mr. Hauer is very sleek and sophisticated and can gain your trust before turning on you.

Rutger Hauer may not play a perfect Barlow but if you refer back to the original book, he plays a more accurate Barlow than Nalder. He talks to Dud Rogers in the dump and attacks him. He also talks during the scene in the Petrie home.

Really, though, I don't think we see enough of either Barlow to make a fair comparison. Considering they are three hour movies, their screen time in both versions is too limited for my liking.

He didn't talk in the movie? I must not have caught that mute act... I like Reggie, like John said, he looks like Nosferatu. And I like his eyes in that picture.

Nalder's Barlow is scarier and has a better "look." I agree with you there. Also he is indeed mute in the original Salem's Lot. All of the speaking lines that Barlow had in the book are delivered by James Mason's "Straker" instead of Nalder.

Wow. I must have missed that. Straker was a wierd person...
