during college, a good friend of mine and i loved the stand ... invariably, if one of us sneezed in the summer months, 'nothing worse than a summer cold' would get mentioned ... we reread the stand about once a year or so for quite a few years ... probably 8 believe it or not ... i can't remember ... i've probably read the stand 15 times ... original much more than uncut since i had that one from it's first publishing (it was the 2nd king book i ever read) ... i'm still not sure which version i prefer ... i love all the little extra vignettes of survivors meeting odd/poor ends ... the man running til he has a heart attack, the woman firing the gun and it misfiring and killing her etc ... those are great features of the uncut ... but then again, i like the time setting of the original (i didn't think the uncut needed an updating of the time period) ... also the rescue of the women from those horrible men was pretty awesome ...
