    Arrow Lisey's Story

    I know, i know, i know, you've probably all read this one and I'm not sure if this was supposed to be good reads besides King, lol, but I'm new so cut me a little slack. I have not been able to put this book down. In a time in my life where I feel trapped to the conformities of socities and norms and the expectations that guide my path of life, I have discovered TRUE, LIBERATING FREEDOM!!! Trapped and stuck I was...but this story...just freed me from this BS life of mine where I have to wonder will their be food on the table or a roof over my head tomorrow. It was either purchase this book or purchase dinner and I took a chance and drank a glass of water for dinner that night. Now I know I'm a bit behind on the current novels, but I have been reading Mr. King my entire life and I've always loved his work, but with this one, I felt myself become intertwined with his work. I know you may never read this post of mine and I am new to this whole online network thing (though I've been "bred" and "groomed" ; haha get it get it..probably not funny, in this new age of technology...thank you for writing this book. And thank you even more for constantly surprising me and making my heart pound through my chest when I am whisked away into one of your novels. Thank you for giving me the ability to leave this place and travel to someplace better...you may never know the ways you've helped me.

    I liked it a lot too, I think its the best of his later works so far.

    But can you say more about how it changed your life?

    It's one of my favourites.
    We all have books ( King and others) that have that magic something as if it was written just for me.
    Thanks for sharing eloquent thoughts and reminding me how much I enjoyed the book.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback.

    DocWilson:

    Well, I am going through a really tough time in my life. Let's just say everything that can go wrong has. Now, I am not one to cry "poor me" I believe that dwelling in the bad and the ugly only make them worse and uglier. I had lost touch of some of the things I used to love and some of the things that mattered dear to me and this story was so powerful, so personal, and so colorful that it brought me back to places in my mind and feelings and emotions that I have not thought about or dared to think about in a long while. I am only 22 and I have my whole life and a whole long list of goods, bads, and uglys to get through but sometimes it all piles up on you at once and you just lose yourself in it. The way "Lisey" has to "go behind the purple curtain" to revisit and relive memories she has tried desperately to mask for so many years reminded me that I was doing so myself. I was and still am so fearful of the hurt, the loss, the pain, and the sorrow that I try to hide it behind my very own "purple curtain" per se. It has become a sort of inspiration for me and I started to try to begin redoing things that I loved so dearly over the years, especially the dark ones; like picking up a good read, creating artwork through collage and chalks/pastels, and my very own go to salvation, writing...hopefully Mr. King is aware that through his imagination, he can sometimes help free ours. I thank him for that though he may never know the way he helped me through some of my toughest times yet.

    And to everyone who replied:

    thank you for your kind words and encouragement...sometimes in the loneliness of the darkness you feel that you have been forgotten...it has been a blessing to be heard again...

    Your Dimension Of Greatness

    No one can know the potential,
    Of a life that is committed to win;
    With courage - the challenge it faces,
    To achieve great success in the end!

    So, explore the Dimension of Greatness,
    And believe that the world CAN be won;
    By a mind that is fully committed,
    KNOWING the task can be done!

    Your world has no place for the skeptic,
    No room for the DOUBTER to stand;
    To weaken your firm resolution
    That you CAN EXCEL in this land!

    We must have VISION TO SEE our potential,
    And FAITH TO BELIEVE that we can;
    Then COURAGE TO ACT with conviction,
    To become what we're MEANT to be!

    So, possess the strength and the courage,
    To conquer WHATEVER you choose;
    It's the person WHO NEVER GETS STARTED,
    That is destined FOREVER to lose!

    Hi Boo'Ya moon! Wow, it's amazing just how much a novel can change your outlook on life! I'm sorry to hear you have been through painful times. I could kinda relate to what you were saying in a lot of your text and I find Stephen King novels as a way of escape from certain things too. I did try to read Lisey's Story a few months back but I just couldn't seem to fall into it as easily as I usually do with King's books. I gave up and went to something else, but after reading what you wrote I am definately going to give it another go...after I finish the Dark Tower series that is...2 more to go!!!!
    I'm very new on here too and not too sure whether you will recieve email to tell you of a reply to this post or not. I'm not too sure how this forum thingy works yet, but I felt I wanted to just say hi. Your honest description of what Lisey did for you has made me want to pick it up again, so thanks a lot! Gav
