You know those little excerpts from various things that Stephen King includes at the beginning of each part? I recall one of them being John Cougar Mellencamp and other rock and roll artists.
For the part when Mike joins the Losers' Club, I thought of one of these thing myself that would fit in perfectly at the beginning of that part of the book. As King states, its a period of the book that kind of suggests a closing of a circle and completion among the Losers. These set of lyrics, I thought, would make perfect sense at the beginning of th part when Mike joins the Losers. It's from a Bruce Springsteen song:
"You can't start a fire
You can't start fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark"
-Dancing in the Dark
Plus doesn't Richie mention Bruce to Mike toward the end of the book? Grrr I wish King would have included this![]()
