Lost = Dark Tower

Does anyone else get the feeling that JJ Abrams has dedicated about 75% of his show to re-creating The Dark Tower series? The names may have changed but there are SOOOO many similarities. The smoke monster is even called "The Man In Black"! Anyway, looking forward to your comments.

Everytime I watch LOST I do feel a Dark Tower vibe..

Yes, there is that vibe. This week's episode was called "The Lighthouse", I believe, but when I first saw it The Dark Tower leapt to mind. I don't know if it was my imagination, but I could have sworn I saw a red glow just for a second.

I know what you mean. Especially when on his way to the tower, I also thought about how the different degrees from the lighthouse showed various pasts...kind of like a beam between worlds.

Also don't forget the Heroin Prisioner in the bathroom "Charlie/Eddie" and the dual time line as in "Jake chambers and Roland" in book 3...

And to further this theory, J.J Abrahms has "Presentation" rights to the Tower movies, I believe.

Maybe lost was his way to present his plans for Dark Tower.... I can only hope Roland becomes the next Jacob.. Hmmmm strangely sounds familiar.

JJ Abrams recently decided he wasn't up to doing a Dark Tower movie because he and his team were worried that they would not be able to do it justice.

That makes me sad... But mayhap the story is best left in our imagination... The version in my head is the best movie I've ever seen and I would hate for J.J. Abrahms to mess with my mental movie... I'm sure he will be okay... Both him and King will continue to kick arse.

Ms Mod, When did he back out? I thought they were hyped up for it and were going to get started after LOST was done? Is someone else going to pick it up or has Mr King decided against having it happen? I'm still torn if I'm happy it wont be made into a movie or upset about it.

Don't remember just when, but think it was 2 or 3 months ago. To the best of my knowledge, no one else has been given the option rights.

Hmmmm......my kids and I just started watching Lost about three weeks ago. We are now up to episode 17 in Season 1. So far, I don't see anything resembling the DT series. Does the resemblance become clearer in later episodes/seasons?
