Need A Title

My father is driving himself crazy trying to remember the title of a certain King work. The only information I have to work with is some creature or force seizing an airplane and taking everyone on board, leaving behind non-organic things like fillings and replacements. I know this isn't much, but if it rings a bell and you think you know, I would be most appreciative!
