My first and only choice for casting would be
Barbara -- Sam Worthington (star of Avatar),
and Big Jim -- be John Goodman.

Sam Worthington has that "Everyman" look about him and John Goodman is well, John Goodman.

Bruce Willis would definitely fit the roll. But I'd also consider Daniel Craig, if he faked an American accent.
