    Default Fringe & Lost

...are test runs for a Dark Tower series. Watch them both closely and you'll see: they are trying out various (many) ideas present in The Dark Tower to see what works with the audience, and what doesn't.
This realization came to me when I finished Season 1 of Fringe.
It's like Abrams wants to make sure he gets The Dark Tower series right by ironing out all the things that don't work before hand.

Except that Abrams and his team have already decided that they don't want to pursue the adaptation of The Dark Tower because they don't feel that they can do it right.

I couldn't finish the first network broadcast episode of "Lost."

I wasn't drinking then. That might have had something to do with it.

Someone please send me some DVDs. The fuzzy eye makes true of false.

    Hi,

Frankly I'm glad, I think they made the right decision.

I don't think that they could have either.

I`m pretty sure Peter Jackson is the only one who could, though. ( Well yeah, Spielberg too)

He did it with LOTR, so I believe he could do it with DT.

    Peter showed any interest?

    Hi,

There was a press interview over here a couple of years ago and Jackson (who I agree would be wonderful) ; he said that he wasn't going to take on another long term project after spending ten years on LOTR, and he's not getting any younger, can't remember where I saw it, got that CRS disease!

But he still has the rights, and would probably remain some sort of executive producer if the project ever saw the light.

At least lost has some originality to experiment with...Fringe is a sad echo of X-Files and a few others that did it better, but a well-done Dark Tower series could replace Lost nicely....very cool.

That's a common misconception. Abrams never had the rights to adapt to film. What he had was the right to come back with a proposal for how his team would adapt it and if that was approved by Steve, it would then go to the next level.
