Question Other works that appear in the Stand

I am hoping that another reader may help me to compile a list of other works that appear in The Stand. I remember, for example, that Stu Redman purchased Watership Down as a gift (and subsequently read and enjoyed it). I remember that several other titles, such as those read by Glen Bateman or those in Nick Andros' bookshelf, but I cannot remember specific titles or authors. I am really interested in pursuing these threads of reference, as they may help me to more fully appreciate King's epic.

Watership Down is a must-read. The only other work i know of mentioned is a story "Flowers for Algernon" (by Daniel Keyes) about "a bunch of scientists who manage to turn a retarded janitor into a genius... for a while anyway". I remember cos it sounded interesting and i mean to read it myself sometime.

Read them later...IMHO, they won't add a damn thing to your enjoyment of "The Stand". I too like how he drops actual other works into his writing, but I consider them clever window dressing until his tale is told. Live, sleep, eat and breathe "The Stand"!!!(No, I hated the book-why do you ask)

Ms. Mod or anyone, in one of the chapters between 45 and 48 of The Stand, there is a mention of a study regarding airplane crashes and airplane capacity. I don't have my book with me but I wanted to do a search for that particular study to see if it really exists. Thanks.

I've never found an actual study as cited in The Stand but I do remember reading something along those lines in The Ghost of Flight 401 and ever since I can't help myself from checking to see how full the plane is whenever I have to fly somewhere. Have also never used a Ouija board since reading that book.
