HENRY, How about Robert Parker's "Spenser for Hire" books. I love the dialog between Spenser, Susan and Hawk.

Highly recommend Meg Gardiner too. Introduced to her from a SK article in EW. Great reads.

Dennis Lehane has a few good ones in that department.
    So does Harlan Coben.

Hi there. I'm a big Christie fan myself and have read every book she wrote. I love British mysteries. Another favourite of mine is Elizabeth George (Inspector Lynley). Have you read any of hers? Happy reading!

I like the Thomas and Charlotte Pitt mysteries by Anne Perry.

Umberto Eco's "The Name of the Rose."

The movie with Connery, Slater, and Perlman ain't bad either. Some versions show Slater's peener, if that floats your boat.

You should try Robert McCammon's historical mystery fiction. They are super good. So far there are 3 books in the series. The first is Speaks the Nightbird, then the Queen of Bedlam and the latest one is Mister Slaughter. It's based in the American colonies back in the early 1700's.
I suggest that you start with the first one and keep going.
Another suggestion is Thomas Harris's books, starting with the Red Dragon then on through the rest of the Hannibal Lector series. I can' think of all the titles right now. I haven't had my coffee yet LOL.
