Looting (possible spoiler)

Was reading last night before bed and finished the looting/riot part of the story.

Then I get an email today, about Anderson Cooper covering some looting/riot in Haiti, which also happened on January 18, 2010.

It just jumped out at me, how well the story was written, as these looters acted in the same way described in the book (looters stealing from other looters and fighting amongst themselves).

I'm sure King did research on this, but I still found it pretty cool.

I was surprised there wasn't more freaking out about food prior to the looting (which was days after the dome came down, I believe). One of the first things I thought, when reading about the dome, was "You're going to run out of food". Even with a mild snowstorm or other problem/disaster, it seems people end up standing in long lines at stores because they apparently didn't even have 2 days worth of food on hand. If a forecast for snow can cause long lines, I'd think a dome certainly would. But Barbie seems to be the only one who thinks of this - he tells Rose to stock up.

I know people were thinking/hoping the dome would go away quickly, but still... if people can freak out about 6 inches of snow on the way, you'd think they'd freak out about the dome, with regards to their food supply.
