I like SK books, but this ending was very unsatisfactory! I have been reading SK books foe 25 years and this was the worst ending ever! I would love to read an alternative ending.

No matter the book...I'm never happy with the ending....I'm a "always wanting more" kinda guy!!!
Loved CELL!
Nooo The ending is great --gets u thinker IMO..... I am sounding like an old record --- this is what makes him gr8! all other books media (for the most part) I know the ending we got the holywood standard endings.. King who knows WTF can happen!
Point here is for me it got me thinking... that is a good thing!
PS- it ok u do not like it but i think the fact you are so annoyed points out to his ability to reach readers... just wish you were happy as opposed to disappointed...
Excellent book until the end. Come on and end it.
LOL I had the same issue with the ending, it drove me up the wallI thought it was a fantastic concept but, to my mind, a very weak finale. I'll always love good old Mr King, but the day I read Cell I fell out with him for awhile, hehe. It's all good though, anything that can provoke any kind of strong reaction is always fun

Personally I liked the ending, but for all who missed what Sai King had to say:
Stephen King had a message about the ending of cell on the main page of this site.
12:41pm March 24th, 2006:
Regarding Cell...
CELL SPOILER: "Based on the information given in the final third of Cell—I’m thinking about the reversion back toward the norm of the later phone crazies—it seems pretty obvious to me that things turned out well for Clay’s son, Johnny. I don’t need to tell you this, do I?”

I cant wait till they put this out as a movie. I have heard of a couple of places that are talking about doing it. I would love to see kubrick do it like he did shining.
Unfortunately, Kubrick died in 1999. I think that there are people out there that could adapt this and do it justice.
I liked the book overall, but the ending took a while for me to accept.
I think the ending to the movie was far better than the novella. Plus, I think if the movie had the same ending as the novella it wouldn't have been as well received. Some writing just doesn't play out well on screen.
