old man and the sea, you bet! there was a movie, i think spencer tracy played the part of the old man. i read the posts in the sg. check it out you get a chance. read a lot of them. haven't read a lot of them.

I'm not sure how "classic" it is, but I love To Kill a Mockingbird.
Also enjoyed Bram Stoker's Dracula
I liked the Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn stories, too.

I've read a ton of classics. Some are so overrated (or maybe I just don't have refined taste); others were wonderful.

what I find a lot of times with classics is, the writing and the mechanics and the language are beautiful works of art--and then the story just sucks.

He IS an American Classic imho.
