Do you really think there's a connection between the two?

I don't think the connection is anything more superfluous than a mere mention by King of one of the other outlying towns. I mean I certainly didn't see anything, other than naming Tarkers Mills as one of the nearby towns, that connects these stories. Just another name-drop, another wink and a nudge to his faithful Constant Readers, much like Derry and Pennywise being mentioned in DREAMCATCHER.

I just love all the nudges he gives the 'constant readers'. Am I right in saying that Tarkers Mills has cropped up a few times in his novels/novellas/short stories etc?

I remember buying this book when it first came out, for the great artwork inside, I would love to find another copy of it.

Yes and no. It's all part of the great Stephen King universe, which in turn are the Dark Tower (plural universes) so in that respect everything is connected!

Yes, almost everything in the SK Universe is connected.
One must love all those little "Easter eggs," right?
