    Default Bango Skank?

    I'm currently reading the 7th book of the Dark Tower series (love it, btw). A coworker of mine just finished the series, so you can imagine the lively discussions we have while on the company's time lol...anywho, I've read quite a bit more Stephen King than he has, and the other day he asked me who Bango Skank was. Seems this fellow pops up quite a bit in the DT series (actually, if I remember correctly, somewhere in the 7th book Jake says this himself), but I have no clue who it is, and as far as I know it was never cleared up. I'm wanting to say it has some sort of connection to The Stand, but it's been several years since I've read The Stand, so I'm probably wrong. Any help?

    The character is never expanded upon and is only seen as graffiti references by the other characters in the book--sort of a Wikipedia reference-linkKilroy was here reference.

    I wonder if King will ever expand on this character? I sure hope so...the name has such a ring to it; it conjures up an air of mystery.

    Two or three years ago I asked this same question here, and somebody told me Bango Skank figured in one of Peter Straub's books. I think I found him later when I was catching up on Straub's 4 or 5 most recent, but I can't remember the details. Seems like he was only graffitti in that book too.

    We all float down here.

    Maybe we'll see Bango Skank come to fruition in the Talisman 3.

    For some reason, I got it in my head that Bango Skank was the name of the Band that S.K. is in, or the name of one of their songs. I can't remember where I got that idea. But anyway I have also written Bango Skank on some random walls (along with Elphaba Lives!, but thats a different story)

    In my humble opinion ::
    CLEARLY-- the term is a 'cleaned up' way of saying " Bangor-Skank ". If King or Straub had used that Term....some would be upset.
    (like all of Bangor Maine, this would include Tabby , and rightly so)

    Everyone is think Bango Shank is a character , a person. I don't think its out of the question that it could be a group of people, say like a groups of renegade Breakers, If it is a single person. It might be Charley (fire starter) or even the"Walking Dude" himself.
    If anyone knows a reason why It cant be " anything or anyone " ; please explain.

    Bango Skank is a character created by horror novelist Peter Straub, and made reference to in Stephen King's epic Dark Tower novels.

    Bango Skank first appeared in Straub's "The Buffalo Hunter", the third story in his short fiction collection Houses Without Doors.

    Although Skank never makes a physical appearance in The Dark Tower novels, he has left graffiti in surprising, dangerous, and unlikely spots, from alternate versions of New York City to the tunnels beneath the Dixie Pig restaurant.

    "Bango Skank was here" was written on the bridge.

    Maybe it's more than one person, y'all said y'all put it everywhere so maybe that's what happened in the book
