Well, first of all, this is not the Simpsons movie, this is Under the Dome by Stephen King.

Second, it has been mentioned in several parts of the book that the Dome is as deep into the ground as it is high, so no chance of doing that.

Third, it`s fiction and entertainment, we shouldn`t take everything so seriously and analyze every single thing in the book. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
