    Post My dear diary

    A diary
Everyone has heard of it, some make fun of it, but I wondered who else of you actually keep one.

I do, I have since I was ten and it's great to read back and see how I swooned over some cool guy a grade higher than me, or how I coped with my grandfather's death. It makes me remember those good times, and those awkward times.
The content has changed over the years.. I used to enter every little thing, what I ate, what cd I was listening to, the books I brought home from the library, which song was number one in the hit parade.. and every other silly little thing.

Now, I mainly write the big events, like the preparations of my marriage or when I go city-hopping and run in to all kinds of shanagans. I keep a list of the books I read in there, so I can see how long it has been since I've read a particular novel. Occasionally a song lyric or a quote I think is beautiful.

Well, I'm curious if I'm the only one who still holds on to that childhood routine.

Absolutely not. I kept a diary for one year as a child, my sister read it and humiliated me with it's contents! She even showed it to my mom because I mentioned a boy that I had kissed. Never again!

I used to have a diary. I don't have time to keep it up anymore but it was useful to organize my thoughts.

I had a journal ever since joining the Navy. But a couple of deployments back, someone got into my personal locker and stole it. Since then I have stopped writting in journals. I wish I never lost that journal though.....

I don't keep a diary, but I do keep a journal of my hunting experiences. I always thought it would be something nice to pass along to the kids one day.

I've always kept a "diary" either in an actual physical book or the computer. When I was a kid around 10, my younger sister found and read my diary and teased me mercilessly for days because I had written in a boy's name with whom I had "fallen in love with." I have to keep my secrets in something since most people are not good secret keepers :-)

I've never kept a diary. Growing up I was a bit of a tomboy so that was far too girly for me. Plus my brothers would no doubt have only found it and tortured me relentlessly. Although they did that anyway...and still do now at times. They certainly didn't/don't need any other excuses to tease me.

When I was a teenager I loved keeping a diary. I hid it under my bed and wrote at least an A4 page every night, very personal stuff about me and my family (boys I liked, sick mother...). One day my younger brothers friend went into my room when I wasn't there and stole it, photocopied loads of copies and brought them to the school of the boy I wrote most about and gave them to everyone.

Needless to say I was very upset that everyone knew my deepest darkest feelings, hopes and fears. It followed me around for years afterwards. I dont think I could actually write in a diary now which is sad because I used it as a therapy to help me get personal stuff out and now have no release.
