If they ever made a film to follow the book then may i recommend MC GAINER [ Sheriff rosco in 2005,s film Dukes of hazzard] he was pictured in my mind as Jim Rennie.
It would make a good film , & i could be Rusty Everett with Tiffant Thiessen as Linda Everett
