    Default Fingerprints of the Gods

I book I highly recommend is: Fingerprints of the Gods - Graham Hancock

It is a book on ancient history. Basically the premise is that Graham Hancock goes around the world to ancient ruins and tries to shatter the preconceived notion we have about the "mainstream" accepted age of human civilization.

The first thing that is shown in the book is a map of Antarctica (Piri Reis map), showing the coastline ice-free. Additionally, it shows wildlife, bodies of water, mountain ranges, and also that Antarctica is actually 2 large islands. In the 20th century, the results of seismic surveys proved that the map is extremely accurate. The only problem is, the map is only 500 years old.

Another example, Egyptologists claim that the Sphinx was built around 2500-3000 BCE or so. Graham had some geologists age the Sphinx, and they said that the vertical erosion indicates heavy rain, which would take a couple of thousand years of rain to exhibit the erosion that it has. Only problem? The last time Egypt had rain like that was around 5000 years earlier.

There are many other amazing things that Graham goes over in the book, and the best part is, there are PICTURES showing you what he's talking about. Whether or not you agree with everything in the book, it will get the juices flowing in your head & is a great conversation piece. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I LOVE speculative history. Especially Graham Hancock. I really enjoyed this book, particularly.

If you like this kind of thing, I also recommend The Sign and The Seal, Also by Graham Hancock.

And my personal favorite, The 12th Planet, by Zechariah Sitchin.

But Hancock is a much more entertaining read. Also, he doesn't show the kind of arrogance that Sitchin shows. This makes it less hilarious, but easier to get through.

I've not read him, sounds like he writes interesting reads...ala Eric von Daniken?...he certainly stirred some stuff up!
I think the map you reference is one Daniken mentions in his Chariots of the Gods book (or one of 'em).

I've read Fingerprints of the Gods and enjoyed it. The Sign and the Seal was also excellent.
If you liked Fingerprints of the Gods then you'll really enjoy The Mars Mystery.
