As I make progress through UTD I am struck by the similarity both in tone and situation to "Needful Things" (and OMG...did I LOVE "Needful Things"!!).
Is anyone else having a similar experience?

now that you mention it, w666, you bet! also connections to hearts in atlantis. probably others...someone'll post them eventually...i liken leland gaunt to the obamallamadingdong.
i realized as i went through the book that I kept hoping for castle rock references, maybe hints at how everyone turned out after needful things.
I just like the senseless violence, and the author's seemingly low regard for his fellow man
I said "tone" initially, but maybe I meant "attitude".
yes
I've read Needfull Things before - I also found some parallels between the books (Castle Rock, ...). I'm not finished with the book yet![]()
I also found the town "Tarkes Mills", it should be the same as in "the circle of the werewolf"![]()
I didn't glimpse any connections with any previous work.
Have yet to get to Needful Things in my KINGdom but am reading The Dead Zone now after UtD, and definitely picking up some similair political vibes. Greg Stillson feels an awful lot like Jim Rennie...
Either way, I loved both of the books. King's newer style and his old school one!
I noticed it too, actually. Now I feel like reading Needful Things again.
I will reread Needful Things eventually..though it'll be awhile.
well I found one thing relating to the Dark tower
and The area relating to Cell,is another one.
