    Default Rage Against The X-Factor...

Now this is truly amusing. Here in the UK, Pop Idol entrepeneur Simon Cowell is said to be livid at an internet campaign which has denied X-Factor winner Joe McElderry a Christmas number one hit single.

Traditionally, in recent years, the winner of Cowell's show is virtually guaranteed the festive top spot, because of the timing of the final of the show, but this year Cowell has been thwarted by a protest internet campaign which has seen the old Rage Against The Machine song "Killing In The Name" outsell the winning X-Factor song and claim the coveted top spot.

It's nice to know that "people power" is still alive and well, and capable of delivering a bloody nose to the music establishment.

    Merry Christmas, Simon!

    Hi,

    Yes, isn't it great!

Simon Cowell is Randall Flagg and he's been draining the creative lifeblood out of pop music for years with his ersatz pastiches of real pop music.

    WTG RATM!!!

    Long days and pleasant nights

Heard this on the radio this morning and was delighted! They tried for it here in Ireland as well, but unfortunately it didn't work; X-Factor nabbed top spot, followed by Rage Against the Machine. It's so unfair how Mr Cowell usually dictates what the Christmas number one is. Power to the People!!

Umm...well Drew you know what my thoughts on this are:

    Little Geordie Joe...Just Say No!!

(Damn I should have made placards with that on in the lead up to the final.)

Couldn't agree more. He will destoy us all one day when the last brain cell has been destroyed by some weird signal eminating from the X factor. I campaigned hard last year to get one of the good versions of Halleluja to the top spot. No joy. I have regained faith in humanity thanks to RATM.

If Simon Cowell is the Machine then what are RATM? After all, using people to sway events is exactly what both parties do. And real music is lost somewhere inbetween the stupid endless battles. Somewhere a Master is playing an no one is listening. Just kidding lol (or am i?) "when all is one an one is all, to be a rock an not roll"

I was maybe 22 as I was flying down (up, North, sideways?) mountains in my friend's sports car. West Va.gina, no Autobahn. We still hit 140mph in the snow. Skiing for spring break. I lived to remember parts of that trip. Rage was blaring the whole way.

I never got into the band's complex political views, but I used to love the sound and the fury.
