So far so good with all three titles of Uncle Steve's! Any comments or criticisms? I'm no huge fan Of Jai Lee's art in the Dark Tower adaptation-but Robin Furth has tweaked the storytelling quite well. The Stand-well, I've been mightily impressed by Mike Perkin's renderings of the characters and he is consistently spot on in my humble opinion. The Talisman is still awaiting a read in the graphic novel form-but I'm looking forward to checking it out when my Comic supplier gets the title in. (Things move a little slow here in donkey walkin' land). Let me know your likes and dislikes....

I've enjoyed the Dark Tower comics, but I'm not in favor of simply re-telling the stories as in Stand and Talisman. When I read a story, I form pictures of what is happening in my head, and, unfortunately, what is portrayed in the comics almost never illustrates what I'd envisioned. I enjoy the Dark Tower comics because they do not simply re-tell a story that's already been written (except, of course, the first arc, Gunslinger Born being a re-telling of much of Wizard and Glass) and that's enough for me.

Thanks for your post. I too form my own "mind pictures" and appreciate what that does for the tale-telling, but still have been impressed even though no new ground is being broken with "Stand" and "Talisman". I give em an "A" for tackling the projects in the first place, because so many people do as we do and have their own interpretations of character and locale-that it would seem to be an almost impossible feat to carry out. Regardless, my hope is that these "picture books" open up Sai King's universe to some who otherwise would never read them.
