Stephen: was it a hassle to get music companies to agree to legally let you use lyrics at the beginning of the chapters of CHRISTINE? Did you give it much thought as you were writing the book or were you sure it would be ok with them? I've been told that you have to pay royalties for each book sold. Is that true?

Stephen doesn't respond personally but this is one I can answer anyway. Whether or not permission is required and a fee paid depends upon how much is used of the lyrics. There have been times when he has rewritten parts of a book because the fee requested was unreasonable.
