Favorite Holiday Song? Christmas Carol?

Do you have a favorite holiday song? Why is it your favorite?

My all-time favorite is The Carol of the Bells. I can't sing if to save my life, and as a kid I had the words all wrong (and if I'm not thinking, I'll sing the messed up lyrics to this day ) I love the song, just about any arrangement will work, they're all great. Sometimes in the summer, I'll crank it and pretend I'm getting ready to put up the tree, just to get in the mood to clean.

A newer favorite, and much cheesier (in a good way) is the Monkee's version of Riu, Riu Chiu. You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRljpaOe2YI I have it on my iPod and I love to play it for people and make them guess who it is. So far, no one's gotten it yet

Has to be "Merry Christmas Darling" by The Carpenters!! Karen's warm voice wraps around you like a favorite quilt, and it never fails to lift my heart and spirits.

"away in a manger" as sung by the 5-8-yr-olds in many churches christmas eve...it'd be even better if i didn't recall pastor shultz scowling at those gathered in the pews, enjoying the innocence of the kids, off-key, out-of-tune, but beautiful nonetheless.

Tough one.

I have a great love for John Lennon's "Happy Christmas (War Is Over), but probably a slight preference for Greg Lake's superb "I Believe In Father Christmas" which carries a similar message.

I think that it is important to remember, especially at a time like Christmas, that countless millions of our fellow humans are living in poverty, or under fear of persecution, or in the midst of war zones, with little hope for their future.

Brenda Lee- Rocking around the christmas tree. Last Christmas I heard on this song a lot and now when I hear it again I start to think about last Christmas. Here in this song is good memories to me. Thats why I liked it.

Wow, The Monkeys had really beautiful voices! We don't usually think of them singing like that. (I remember watching The Monkeys TV show was I was a kid...)
