Thumbs up The King's gift to the soldiers

If you haven't heard yet Stephen King and his wife have donated $12,999 so that some of the Maine National Guard can be home for Christmas before they come over here to Afghanistan.

The story can be found on the MSN Entertainment page.

It says in the article that they did the 12,999 because 13 is an unlucky number. I was thinking that they should have done 19. :-D

Thanks again to King and family, it's nice to be home for the Holidays from time to time even if no one else can seem to plan around it.

    Long days and pleasant nights!

Thumbs up The King's gift to the soldiers

I just read that Stephen and his wife Tabitha have donated $12,999.00
so that 150 soldiers training in Indiana can come home to Maine for the Holidays before deploying to Afghanistan in January. Can't tell you how
touched I was by this. Just wanted to say what a wonderful thing this is to
do and how proud I am to be a fellow New Englander and Sox fan as well
as an avid King fan. Way to go!!! Happy Holidays!!!

Such a nice thing for them to do. If I can mention, go to the article again and post something nice there (under comments). Uncle Steve needs our support as some of the people aren't as nice as the ones in here. I'm gonna go do that now.

    Default An excellent job

I am a meber of the National Guard that has recently returned from Afghanistan. I have written a column about the daily problems soldiers face in that country. I would like to thank Mr. King on the behalf of all soldiers for his wonderful gift to the Maine National Guard. It is hard for people to understand how much one more holiday with your family means to them. Thank You again Sir.

As a member of the US military, I have always enjoyed SK's books. I can't tell you how many times his books have gotten me by some extremely boring hours at sea. I always liked SK, now I want to go out and by everything he has, just to show my gratitude. I became a member here just to show him my support.

I can't tell him personally how little things like this make a soldier's or sailor's day. That being said, I thought I would come here and let you all know how big this really is.

    THANK YOU STEVEN KING.
