    Default Kind of sad...

..that we didn`t mention yet that it was 29 years ago on Dec 8, that one of the great human beings, John Lennon, was murdered by that monster whose name I don`t even want to mention.

RIP, John and lets keep hoping that we will give peace a chance...someday...

I still remember hearing about his passing on Monday Night Football.

    Very tragic, indeed.

Thank you for opening this thread, Srbo. I was thinking of John on the anniversary of his death (as I do every year). It still brings tears to my eyes. I miss him so much. We really could use his music in today's world. What would he be saying/singing/doing regarding the wars in the middle east?
Give peace a chance. That song is still so relevant today.

John was certainly taken from us way too early, although his catalogue of music will remain forever. A highly contentious point, but, IMO, possibly the most gifted songwriter to ever come out of England.

At least he died before his output started to deteriorate badly, unlike his old sparring partner Paul, but that is scant consolation to his family, friends and all of us who loved him. And tragically, the "Double Fantasy" album that was released literally days before his murder, suggested something of a return to form, with songs like "Woman" and "Watching The Wheels".

Surely, however, I can't be alone in thinking that his determination to collaborate artistically with Yoko Ono did him no favours whatsoever?

Next year will be 30 years. It feels like longer than that in some ways. I wonder what kind of music he'd be making in response to the messes of today?
