I did not research this, so I could be wrong. I am pretty sure a 'cruise missle' as described in Under the Dome is powered by a jet engine and could not reach speeds of 3500 to 3800 miles per hour as described. It also would not create a blast wave or ignite the countryside as it passed an area. They are also subsonic, so no sonic boom. The description sounds more like a rocket-propelled missile which would not have the terrain-following capabilities of the missile as described in the book. Just sayin'. I suppose if Mr. King can invent the Dome, he's free to invent a new kind of weapon too.
