Books you need to read before you die!!!

Last time I was in the local bookstore I couldn't help notice a book titled..
1001 books you must read before you die

I had a little free time this afternoon and searched the internet for the list. Not a smart thing to do.. With these kind of lists, my OCD never fails to kick in!

I've checked and I've read about 27 of them..
I've got a average of reading 35 books a year. That's roughly 28 years before I'll have read them all if I don't read anything else in between.

Got only one remark.. How come that there is only one Stephen King novel on there. Only The Shining is listed, and I do feel like his other 50+ novels are worth mentioning

Up until this past year I've never planned ahead with what to read. It was always my faves and then whatever. This year a multitude of my faves published and I was also introduced to some new avenues with which to broaden my horizons.
My own must read list is daunting enough, so checking that list may send me cowering into the corner.

I don't think I would have chosen The Shining if I could only pick one. I'm not sure which one I would pick, though. I'd have to think about it.

I think The Story of Edgar Sawtelle was one of the better books I've read lately. However, no one should miss To Kill A Mockingbird.

Wow! That list is exhausting! I am happy to say that I have read a few of the books on the list. I have a few of them to be read. It's funny that you said The Shining is on this list because I just started reading it today!

Holly crap Nathalie, 35 books a year, I'm so jealous. I normally read about half that many, and I think I'm doing pretty good. It would take me 56 years! Not gonna happen! I'm going to check out the link anyway. Thanks

If you buy the book you get a short synopsis with every book, and the reason why it has been chosen.

I did miss some important/great/brilliant books on the list tho... but it's only a list, I know
