Does anyone know if you can get the audio book of "The Stand" on CD? I have it on cassette, but seriously who uses a tape player anymore.

There is no mass market audiobook version of The Stand at this time in any format. The only one that has been produced was the 1978 edited edition and that was done as a recording for the blind or visually impaired.
Books on Tape also released it in two parts, on tape - the original cut version though. ISBNs are 9785557085243 and 9785557085373.
Grover Gardner narrated.
They are expensive and hard to come by. They were expensive new.
There is a seller on ebay who sells all SK books on MP3=CD and I have both versions of The Stand - that is, two different readers, both are the long version of the story. They are very inexpensive. I couldn't be without one on a long trip or even a walk now and again. I got Insomnia on MP3=CD not too long ago. It has always been one of my favorites and although I had it on tape I don't have a good tape player anymore. You should try ebay.
This is a question to MS. MOD:
You made a post not long ago about it is a copyright violation for someone to sell stories like The Stand in mp3 format on places like Ebay. I own the Books On Tape version of The Stand as mentioned by Mobe1969 above. Would it be a copyright violation if I copied the tapes to my computer and then converted them to MP3 for my own use? I don't want to sell or give them to anyone else, but I would like to be able to listen to them again without carrying a tape player around with me. It's a pain (not to mention dangerous!) to change cassettes while driving! If I recall correctly, I paid about $150 for the 2-part set when I bought it from Recorded Books, Inc. several years ago and it seems a shame for it to just sit on the shelf gathering dust.
That shouldn't be an issue because it's for your own use but it's the people who are making multiple copies and selling them which is clearly violating copyright laws that we have a problem with.
Thanks, Ms. Mod, for the quick response. Looks like I'll be busy for awhile copying the cassettes to my compter--there are a total of 23 ninety minute cassettes in The Stand! Then it's on to the first three books in the Dark Tower series, the ones that were read by Steve himself. I also have the CD versions read by Frank Muller, but I prefer the originals. Don't get me wrong, Frank Muller was an excellent audiobook narrator and I was very sad when I heard he had passed away, but I laughed so hard when I heard Steve doing the Gasher voice, especially when he sang, that I nearly had a wreck!
It was awesome to hear him say Alain (Ah lane) Cuthbert (Qu th burt) and Aunt Talitha (Tal eetha) as well.
It's a shame this isn't in audiobook format on CD. My husband only does audiobooks and I want to share this amazing epic with him.
It looks like it will be available as a library CD ny Books on Tape in Feb.,2012. I saw it listed on Amazon
