I was fascinated by the leatherheads. What exactly were they, where were they. I'm sure a parallel universe, another dimension. I found it very interesting that they were portrayed as children - suggesting that the adults were not interested in our species, we only served as entertainment for the kids! I liked the ant analogy - ants in an ant farm seem oblivious to anyone watching them, as the residents of Chester Mills did at first. I would free the ants too if they made it clear to me that they were dying and begged for freedom! King never fails to intrigue me with the idea of parallel universes and other dimensions. Love it!

- they're just disgusting little insignificant(vaguely threatening) pests to me, and if it turns out that I'm even less than that to some advanced race out there in some universe somewhere, well...these are thoughts that I'm sure have been pondered by greater minds than mine, and anyway, waddaya gonna do? If I have to worry about negative Karma coming back to me for handing out little spider death sentances, I'm already totally screwed!
