I agree. It was great. It was really fast and easy to read as well which I like a lot. There's nothing worse than a dull and slow book. Heck, it could be really amazing and slow...I would still probably quick reading it, so good job with this one Stephen. (:
Yes, another great one by Bachman! I read this before, many years ago in high school, & it always stuck in my mind. So I reread it last week! It's excellent! I had to keep reading to see what happened, & I was not let down.
I forgot to mention the part that grossed me out the most. When Hopley had the disfiguring case of acne & you could imagine the yellow pus & blood oozing & trickling down his face......& hear "the unspeakable, sickening sound of ripe pimples breaking wetly open."
I was so grossed out! So I know this will sound gross, but the next time I had a blemish & wanted to get rid of it, I couldn't get this image out of my head.

It's good to see that a lot of others liked this one. I liked 'Thinner' too. I checked it out at my local library which was cool because they have the original first edition hardcover and it's under the author 'Richard Bachman' and not Stephen King, which was cool because newer editions of 'Thinner' have Stephen King's name on it (Stephen King writing as Richard Bachman) which takes away the fun of him using the pseudonym.
But anyways, I was so intrigued by the story that I read the book in 2 1/2 days or so. Although the Billy Halleck character isn't as likeable as other SK characters, I like the way that Stephen wrote about guilt in this novel. Halleck's recurring nightmares/memories of the accident were chilling and I couldn't wait to get to the end which was shocking. And the character of Ginelli was interesting too....it's too bad what happens to him at the end.
Agree this is a great read, lot of twists and some great characters. Actually felt sorry for Ginelli which surprised me.
